Check out this newly built ‘Welcome to Westport’ sign, made from corten steel and profile cut using our high definition plasma. Threaded studs were used to fasten the various layers together to give the 3D effect. The intricate detail of the sun ray background, Seal, Surfer, Clock Tower, Bike and Weka silhouettes resemble the action packed experience, nature and history of the Buller region.
Corten steel is a high strength, weathering steel, commonly used for exterior features. If left uncoated, the natural weathering process rusts the surface and creates a protective layer. This layer can protect the steel from rusting further whilst producing a deep brown patina that varies slightly with time without any further surface treatment.
