BT Mining case study on the MTG Bucket Tooth system.

BT Mining is part of the Bathurst Resources group and operate the largest coal mining company in NZ. They export coals to coke manufacturers and steelmakers around the world and supply industrial users throughout New Zealand.

Situation

BT Mining, Stockton mine, operates in one of the hardest and most abrasive ground conditions in the world. They were experiencing problems with the previous GET systems on their large excavator buckets. The impact of premature wear issues, cumbersome installation and locking devices, GET components becoming loose and falling off were costing BT Mining downtime and money.

Response

West-Trak worked closely with BT Mining to improve the situation and was successful in gaining a supply agreement to provide the ultimate GET solution. By using the most advanced, highest performing and safest GET system in the world, huge gains were made for BT Mining.

Outcome

Significant increases in GET wear life, component fastening, safety of installation and machine productivity have been achieved using West-Trak’s MTG hammerless GET System. BT Mining has reaped the following benefits of this outcome;

  • A significant improvement in GET wear life
  • Faster change-over times, dramatically reducing downtime
  • No need to weld up adapter noses, greatly reducing maintenance time and cost
  • Increased safety with the MTG hammerless pin technology
  • Guaranteed no loss of GET components
  • Significant cost savings and reliable back up support from West-Trak
